First of all, I think your question is very interesting, it had to let me think about it for a while.
I've been drawing for like 5 years now, and before I started to draw Audrey I have had been in a large break for like a year or something. So the improvement didn't came that fast. But I agree about the fast improvement lately, I am still wondering why I improved now? maybe its because I started using charcoal. Or maybe it is because I'm listening to Björk when I draw
